Ask Iris Answers-SAT Prep!

Dear Iris,

As a junior, my concerns have started to grow about taking my SATs! I really get stressed out and definitely HATE standardized testing!! I have trouble concentrating and getting my mind right before the test, so i was wondering if you have any helpful tips?

Much Love,

Stressed Junior

Dear Stressed Junior,

Believe me, I’ve been there and done that! So, I understand the level of stress that you are currently in. But, don’t let that stop you from fully preparing yourself for the SATs! I know you have heard this a million times before but, let me state the obvious… make sure you get some sleep the night before and get a healthy and fulfilling breakfast the morning of the test. I know this is repetitive, but trust me, this really prepares your mind and your ability to maintain concentration and memory recall are improved overall!

A guidance counselor referred me to this book called “The Genius-SAT Strategies” which you could also access in their schoology page! It says that you should treat the SATs as a game such as a puzzle that you are trying to solve!

Think about it this way…

You are trying to solve problems using logical reasoning and background knowledge, So treat theSAT as a really long puzzle that you are trying solve in order to get you into your #1 college!

It’s a dreadful process, but it pays off at the end!

I know you can do this!

Stay Concentrated,
